The Objective 1 Programme is a £2.4 billion investment programme that includes over £770 million from the European Union’s Structural Fund budget as well as public and private sector resources. South Yorkshire was designated as an Objective 1 area and the program was launched in July 2000 and closed for new investments at the end of 2006.
